1/17- Friday Favorites- Spicy Lemonade and Vegan Joes

Share the love :)

East End Montage

Last weekend Chad and I went to a filming for a TV show called Eat St for the Food Network Canada.  It was being taped at a new culinary mecca we have here in Orlando now called the East End Market.  This is O-town’s version of the famous Chelsea Market in New York City.  Only East End is smaller.  Much, much smaller.  Probably, one hundredth of the size of Chelsea Market.  The concept is the same though.  A collection of local vendors peddling their goods under one roof.  We enjoyed a nice lunch there…which brings me to the first item on my Friday Favorites list!  I love this time of the week when I get to reflect on my previous few days and think about what has made me happy……

1. Skyebird Organic Juice Bar

Spicy LEmonade East End Market Skyebird

At Chelsea Market in NYC, there is a juice bar called One Lucky Duck.  I am absolutely in love with freshly squeezed juices at the moment and I discovered Skyebird– a juice bar in the East End Market in Orlando.  I actually tried their Spicy Lemonade with habanero, served in a mason jar that I got to take home.  I am so excited to have yet another place to go and experiment with fresh juices.

2. My Breville Juice Fountain Elite

The Juicer

And speaking of fresh juices, I received a juicer for Christmas this past year (THANKS MOM!!!) and have fallen in love with it.  Chad and I have had a lot of fun with it.  Apple, pears, grapes, kiwi and carrots are among many things have made the cut in our juicing experiments and we are loving our newest kitchen gadget.

3.  Vegetarian Sloppy Joe Mix

Fantastic Foods Vegan Sloppy Joe

We found this  Vegetarian Sloppy Joe mix at our local Publix and I prepared it one night we were looking for something quick for dinner.  I couldn’t believe it was not only super easy to fix, but it was delicious.  I planned on taking the leftovers with me to work the next day, however,  it was so yummy that Chad and I both had an extra sandwich and ate all of it.   Now I am of course hunting for a great Sloppy Joe recipe to fix from scratch for Vegan Monday.  In the meantime we will be keeping a few boxes of this from Fantastic World Foods for the next time we need supper in a hurry.

4. Benefit They’re Real Mascara

Benefit They're Real mascara

I am loving this mascara I bought at Ulta. Super expensive compared to other mascaras but I think it is worth it.  Not only do my lashes really pop, this mascara doesn’t disappear after a few hours, it won’t smudge and wipes off easily.  My biggest complaint of mascara is that after a few hours, my eyelashes actually begin to hurt sometimes (does this happen to anyone else or is it just me?)  I haven’t had a problem with this yet since trying this Benefit formula.

5. Peppermint Chocolate Chip Milkshake

peppermint milkshake

Chick-Fil-A brings this seasonal shake back just for the Holidays then pries it away from our happy little hearts after Christmas.  Boo!  I have started making it at home from a recipe I found a few years ago so I can make it any time of the year now.  And I can make it healthier than the version at the fast food place.

What are YOU loving this week?

Once again, thanks to Heather from Housewife Glamour and Clare from Fitting It All In for hosting link ups!

I want a juicer since forever, then I saw Fat Sick and Nearly Dead and I want it even more! I wish that in Puerto Rico we'd have more vegetarian/vegan options, because it's getting harder for me to eat at restaurants, they barely have options, so I'll usually order the same rice+beans :/

Oooh Lemonade! I crave it after a long run . I have a few of Benefit’s products and have always loved the quality. Thanks for sharing. If you make up a copycat recipe of that lemonade, I would be all ears.

Having the juicer has really made a huge difference for us. I felt like we sometimes didn't get enough fruits in our diet. Now we have so much fun adding more fruit and veggies to our everyday routine!

:-) for the juicer. I have a fantastic vegan sloppy joe recipe but Chad wouldn’t like it because it is made from mushrooms. It tastes (and has the same texture) as a real sloppy joe except way better.

Could I substitute lentils for the mushrooms? Send it my way!

I don't know what I would do without my morning smoothies!

Me either- we usually have smoothies for dessert after dinner. I am out the door way to early in the morning to have them everyday for breakfast!!
