Editor’s note:  Chad and I visited Infusion Tea last month before I started my September 30-day No Bread Challenge.  So far, only 4 days into the No Bread Challenge and I have only messed up once- more on that later….for now enjoy our adventures at this organic teahouse….

Orlando is a very well-rounded culinary mecca.  We have restaurants that cater to every type of cuisine from around the world.  One of the newest trends here in town is the popularity of  organic “teahouses”.  I am not sure how to categorize this trend but there are at least three places I can think of in Orlando that serve up not only a huge selection of teas, but they also cater to the vegan/vegetarian crowd with their food.

Chad and I love this place called Infusion Tea in the College Park neighborhood just north of downtown Orlando.  You can order from a huge list of all kinds of tea – from black tea to white tea to rooibos to everything in between.  You can order a pot of hot tea and enjoy some cucumber tea sandwiches.  You can order a glass of iced tea and enjoy one of their organic items on the food menu.  Everyday brings a quiche, a soup and a hot and cold tea as the daily feature.  (Hint:  If you “check-in” on Yelp you will receive a complimentary glass of the iced tea of the day).

And if you order the hot tea you have a “timer” on your table that will tell you when your tea is done steeping if you want it light, medium or strong.  (They sell these cute little timers for about $15 right at the counter).

So while the tea is great, they also serve a great selection of healthy sandwiches, soups and salads.   I had the white gazpacho soup and the goat cheese pizza.  A delicious combination……the tangy goat cheese and the sweetness of the gazpacho really went well together.

On a previous visit, Chad and I got their lunch combo special.  I ordered the avocado delight wrap with the Milton Special salad (organic field greens, roasted beets, dried cranberries, sunflower seeds, hummus and tabouleh).

Chad ordered the veggie and hummus sandwich and the roasted pear salad.  Wow- that salad was terrific- it was topped off with these pecan crisp crackers and caramelized pears…..

The space itself is very eclectic- while you are waiting for your food to be prepared you can stroll around the store located right in the dining area.  On Thursday nights you can find some of the local food trucks and merchants out in the parking lot.  On a recent visit Chad and I made, we enjoyed a frozen organic Grapefruit popsicle and a German Chocolate Vegan cupcake after dinner from some of the local food trucks.

We just love trying out all these organic vegetarian places – Infusion Tea is one of the great places that is putting Orlando on the healthy food map!!
