903 Mills Market is tucked away in a predominantly residential area slightly south of downtown Orlando. The vibe is that of a trendy corner neighborhood market and is quite popular among the locals. A handful of tables outside always seem to be filled with Orlandoans drinking coffee or enjoying a leisurely brunch on the weekends.
We visited on a Sunday morning, ordered our food in the counter inside than settled into a cozy table in front of the restaurant. We first ordered the 903 Appetizer Platter, a sample of their most popular dishes including hummus, olive tapenade, fire-roasted salsa and black bean corn salsa.
We enjoyed the platter, my favorite item being the olive tapenade with sun-dried tomatoes. My only complaint was that the appetizer was brought at the same time as the sandwiches we also ordered. This sort of defeated the purpose of it being an “appetizer”.
My fellow diner, Chad had ordered the 903 Market Salad.
“Spring mix topped with mango, pineapple, papaya, pecans,
bleu cheese crumbles & poppy seeds with our mango
The mango pineapple vinaigrette was off the hook with the sweet pecans and the tangy blue cheese crumbles. There were plenty of mango, pineapple and papaya chunks to satisfy a fruit craving, even as a salad for breakfast.
I went for the pick 2 option where I had a salad and half sandwich. I ordered the Lake Weldona Tommazza salad…..
“Spring mix with fresh mozzarella, cherry tomatoes, olives & capers
served with our homemade balsamic vinaigrette.”
….and the E.M.T. sandwich.
“Breaded eggplant, tomato and mozzarella with pesto on a toasted roll.”
I loved the herbs and seasoning in the salad. Lots of Rosemary added a ton of flavor to an otherwise ordinary salad.
I was pleasantly surprised by the sandwich. I was expecting the eggplant to be on the greasy side when it is cooked but here the eggplant was breaded. There was nothing greasy about it. The eggplant was perfectly seasoned and the mozzarella was gooey and magical.
And yes, they had my most favorite drink in the world- Mexican Coke. Just please don’t tell my Mother I had a coke for breakfast. 903 Mills Market is a wonderful little gem- definitely worth the visit.
