Hello all! I normally look forward to Fridays but this week has been especially somber- today marks the one week anniversary of losing my kitten Zoey. (I wrote a post about her here.) This week has been filled with ups and downs, highs and lows, tears and laughter. My heart is still very broken but I know I will be OK eventually and she is with me everywhere now.
Friday night I decided I just could not sit around the house and sulk. Chad and I had tickets to the Orlando Ballet. I had not been to the newly built performing arts center downtown so we decided to go- figuring we could leave at intermission if we felt so inclined.
We did stay for the entire performance and I enjoyed it. It brought me back to my old dancing days.
And the Dr. Phillips Center is gorgeous. I felt like I was in New York City walking in- so sophisticated and new. Just beautiful.
Waking up on Saturday morning, after a few tears, I once again decided to get out of the house and Chad and I headed to the farmer’s market in Winter Garden. I picked up this petite orchid– something I would keep in my bedroom on the dresser where my Zoey used to sleep. And I believe the orchid has been Sully approved for his sister.
Sunday we went to walk around Lake Lily near Winter Park- just outside of Orlando. We intended to run around the lake a few times but there was a farmer’s market there as well so we half walked half ran.
It was just another morning I didn’t want to sit around the house and going to Lake Lily was peaceful.
Sunday night I went to an event for the Orlando Yelp Elite– we met at a tea shop in Winter Park called Tea and Tea and learned all about tea. We drank samples of their lavender and flamingo passion tea and nibbled on shortbread cookies.
I had to try a Pecan Pie cream tea before we left- complete with Boba Milk bubbles. I just don’t understand why tea hasn’t caught on like coffee has in the States.
Monday brought the grand opening of The Orlando Eye and the I-Drive 360 complex in the touristy International Drive district of Orlando. I recapped that day on the blog earlier this week. I met a group of media friends and we rode the wheel….twice.
AND we went to the Madame Tussaud’s Wax Museum, which also officially opened on Monday. More on that in a later post. Though this picture of me and Jimmy does not look realistic, most of the other wax figures did.
The rest of the week has been low key. I did go with Chad a few hours south of Orlando where he had some work to do and I camped out at the local Starbucks. Look how cute my Frappuccino Sugar Cookie is. Perfect with a Cinnamon Chai Tea.
And that’s it from Beetsland for this Friday- I hope you guys have a great weekend!

My deepest sympathies about Zoey, losing an animal is never easy--they're just like family. Cats in particular, I'm very close to. I hope your weekend is brighter and happier. :)
