Went here a few weeks ago-
On a recent trip to Cocoa Beach Chad and I stopped to have lunch. First of all- we went on a Sunday and I had done my research to find us a nice healthy vegetarian friendly restaurant- only our first three choices were all closed on Sundays. Boo!
So I found another place called Jazzy’s Mainely Lobster. I use Urbanspoon to find most of my restaurants to try when we go out of town. They had gotten a 93% approval rating (from average Joe’s just like me-that’s why I love that site) and everyone raved about their lobster rolls. Oh- I was so excited! We drove the one hour to the beach…only to find the place was closed for vacation.
Just about two blocks away we found a little place just across from the beach called Yellow House.
I had read reviews on Urbanspoon about this one too and it didn’t great the best reviews but didn’t get really bad ones either. I was nervous because the place was empty when we got there. (We were attending an event just across the street so we thought it would be packed). However, the atmosphere was cute- like a typical beach bar with indoor or outdoor seating.
By the time we had finished lunch the place was almost packed with a lot of locals who all seemed to know the bartenders and each other. That is a really good sign when the locals flock there.
I ordered the bang bang shrimp appetizer – it was delicious!! Very tangy, not too spicy, nice presentation…….
My only complaint is that the menu said it was served atop fried green tomatoes..as you can see in this picture- I got regular sliced red tomatoes- nothing fried or green in the tomato department. I let it slide because it really was very tasty.
I ordered a blackened tuna filet sandwich as my meal and Chad got a Grouper wrap. (Sorry- these pictures didn’t come out too clearly)
The tuna was cooked perfectly for me (medium rare) but the blackened spices made it incredibly salty. Chad liked his grouper wrap but it wasn’t anything special.
Since starting this blog Chad has learned two things about eating out:
#1) He cannot start digging into the food until after I take pictures.
#2) He has learned to describe the taste of his food to me so I can write about it.
We would still go there again- I would next time order the bang bang shrimp salad which is just a larger portion of the bang bang shrimp appetizer. The service was good too- we were able to get in and out in less than an hour so we could attend our event.
This is a great place for some grub and then you can just walk across the street for a long walk on the beach.
