The name of this place alone was intriguing to me. Sprouts of all varieties are my thing and when you attach the word ‘Beauty’ to them you can consider me game. Beauty of Sprouts is a spot close to downtown Sarasota specializing in raw Vegan food. It is by far some of the best raw food I have ever experienced.
Rano, the owner and head Chef, was trained at the Moscow Professional Culinary College in Russia and worked as a Chef in New York City before heading south. On the day we visited she was there preparing her creations in the tiny kitchen, but what wonderful creations they were.
Chad ordered the sandwich listed on the menu under entrees and was fully expecting just that- a sandwich. What he got was a work of art- way too pretty to eat though that didn’t stop Chad. His sandwich was a slice of flat onion bread topped with hummus, nut cheese, sprouts, shredded veggies, cucumbers, avocado and flower petal garnish. The most colorful edible creation I have ever seen. It was a lot of goodness, not too heavy but quite filling.
I tried a glass of turmeric tea– not for the faint of heart. It was like drinking straight turmeric, however it was not too difficult to get down knowing the amazing and powerful benefits the tea had to offer. Turmeric is super healthy and aids in lowering cholesterol, reducing inflammation and providing a large dose of anti-oxidants.
For my meal I ordered the pizza – nut cheese, zucchini hummus, red bell peppers, black olives and sprouts topped sprouted crust. This was not the fold over, dripping with grease pizza variety- this was a knife and fork, lite and airy version. Also incredibly delicious.
Served with a small bed of greens in a dainty vinaigrette, it was a perfect meal for me.
However, I wasn’t able to leave there without finishing my experience with a thick horchata shake. I am obsessed with horchata and its healthy mix of cacao, cinnamon, cayenne pepper, fruit and nuts.
Beauty of Sprouts is nothing frilly on the outside but eclectic and cozy on the inside and Rano is there to see that your meal is perfect. The only con is the menu is slightly on the pricey side though the experience is worth it. We left feeling healthy, renewed and satisfied. 5 out of 5 sprouts.
