The Del Frisco’s Restaurant Group consists of three concepts: Del Frisco’s Steakhouse, Sullivan’s Steakhouse and Del Frisco’s Grille. I recently had the opportunity to experience the latter- Del Frisco’s Grille located at Rockefeller Center in the heart of New York City.
My Mom and I chose a table in the bar area, as we were really wanting some light bites and beverages. We found a spot in front of a huge picture window where we could watch all the action of midtown. At 4pm we were the only people in the restaurant. By 5pm the bar area was packed. That’s always a good sign.
Our meal was very simple, we each ordered the Tuna Ahi Tacos then split the Kale and Brussel Sprouts salad with a side order of steak fries.
The Tuna Ahi tacos were magnificent. Tuna tartare, avocado and a spicy mayo were placed inside mini corn taco shells. I personally think tartare is one of the best ways to really enjoy tuna. Though the tacos are listed on the menu as a shared appetizer, it was a good decision for us to each order our own. They were simply too delicious to share.
The Kale and Brussel Sprouts salad was large, but the kitchen took it upon themselves to divide it among two plates for us. My salad was stuffed with the sprouts, dried cranberries, Marcona almonds, orange segments and shave Manchego cheese.
I enjoyed the salad, especially as the brussel sprouts were shaved right into the salad raw. Probably one of my most favorite ways to enjoy my sprouts.
The steak fries were tasty as well, though nothing terribly special.
The menu consists of items like steaks, meatloaf, burgers and flatbreads. While the rest of the menu did look appetizing, I was happy with just ordering fancy little snacks at the bar. Be warned, Happy Hour gets very busy and is packed into a tiny little bar area but it is an excellent place to sit back and watch New York City move and shake.
