I first discovered Diggity Doughnuts on a trip to Whole Foods in Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina, just across the bridge from Charleston. As I walked out of the store, I found the Diggity Doughnuts food truck right in front of me, with a line. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that the doughnuts were egg- and dairy-free.
My very first Diggity doughnut was the peanut butter with spicy chili paste. I loved the mix of savory and spicy in a doughnut.
Fast forward a few years later and I learned of an actual Diggity Doughnuts store front location. We had an opportunity to visit there before the owner sold her recipes and shop. The store is now called Nana’s Doughnuts, and they still serve the amazing Vegan treats of its predecessor. However, you can still find the blue Diggity Doughnuts truck around town.
We tried a selection of their doughnuts while in the old store and each was better than the last. Most notably, the peanut butter and chili paste doughnut is now peanut butter with sriracha. And it is spicy.
Still available on the truck are classic favorites like the chocolate icing and the maple and brown sugar. However, if you see the truck, act quickly as the treats do sell out.
And the doughnuts are amazing – 5 out of 5 sprouts.
