This is has been such an amazing Fairwinds Broadway in Orlando season. We have seen mermaids, witches and murder. To close out the season, the Dr. Phillips Center is bringing the show “Finding Neverland” to the Walt Disney Theater June 6th-June 11th. I had the opportunity to catch the show last night and it certainly delivered on flair, emotions and excitement.

The plot follows the story of the author J.M. Barrie and the creation of the beloved children’s character Peter Pan. From the Lost Boys to Captain Hook, “Finding Neverland” is a magical journey through song, tears and laughter.

The cast is extraordinary in their performance of delivering a tale of joy, heartbreak, and a creative imagination. Voices were clear and strong, but for me it was the young cast of children that was the most impressive. I was taken back by their stage presence, their comedic one-liners, and  their ability to draw the audience in with emotion gut wrenching acting. I heard plenty of sniffles during certain scenes and roars of laughter during others.

Sammy was convincing as the family dog Porthos. That’s all I can say on that. Throw a live animal into a stage show and I’m hooked.

The subtle signs of how characters were imagined became a fun game during the performance. Watch for the development of the both the Captain Hook and Crocodile characters.

Grab your tickets to the magic quickly – the show is only here for a few days through this upcoming Sunday June 11.
