Friday Favorites #81

Share the love :)

Happy Friday. HAPPY FRIDAY! So what is your favorite day of the week? I like Fridays – I enjoy Friday Favorites on the blog. I like Saturdays, I love having the entire weekend in front of me, although lately my weekends are filled with schoolwork. But the weekends are usually when Mr. Beet is home the most, and we love hitting a local bakery for breakfast, followed by grocery  shopping, then cooking dinner at home. So enough about the weekend, let’s get back to Friday and today’s Friday Favorites.

Today’s Friday Favorites – a tale of a frog. After the daily afternoon rains here in Central Florida, we get a lot of visits from these mini frogs. They jump all over the yard, and some climb the window. Charlotte loves the frogs, I think she is trying to find one she can kiss to see if it turns into a Prince. Or maybe she is trying to eat them. I don’t know. Here is a recent encounter. It began with a frog peeking in the window, then saying hello to Charlotte.

Charlotte tries to get to the frog.

Then realizes she can’t because the glass is in the window, so she screams for me and asks if I can open the window.

OK, so I have been posting about Charlotte a lot. Let’s talk about something else. I talked earlier in the week about adapting to an anti-inflammatory diet due to some neck and spine issues I have been experiencing.  It’s been so far so good – I am trying to stick to a list of mostly fruits and vegetables, and eliminating sugar, as sugar is inflammation’s number one enemy. While it hasn’t been easy turning away from ice cream and cupcakes, I definitely feel better and have been experiencing less pain in my neck and back. I have been trying to have an apple a day as part of the new diet. I just recently received a Deiss Apple Slicer and it’s been making life a little easier. It makes an apple so pretty!!

Another one of my allowed foods on my anti-inflammatory diet is fish. So I went to a new place called Quickly Cafe that opened just up the street from me and had a tuna and salmon poke bowl. I think I could eat one of those everyday.

I did enjoy a Boba Milk Tea however, throwing me off my no sugar diet. I love milk tea. But in my defense, I did split my tea with Mr. Beets so I didn’t drink the whole thing myself.

Then the next day I went to another poke bowl restaurant across the street from the Quickly Cafe. I liked this bowl better as I added eel to the tuna and salmon. I love adding masago, edamame, scallions and cream cheese, then I splurged a bit on wonton noodles. Wonton noodles are a neutral food for me, neither pro-inflammatory or anti-inflammatory.

Well, I won’t keep you any further.

Have you tried an anti-inflammatory diet? Did it make you feel better?

Are you on a special diet?

Oh my gosh, Charlotte is so cute! I love that she tried to get the frog and then screamed at you, haha. It's a good thing we don't get a lot of frogs around here because they would not mix well with all the free-range cats!

Seems like a really great week! Good luck with your anti-inflammatory diet! I'm glad to hear that you are noticing a positive difference with cutting sugar. I am working to lower my sugar intake as well!

I just LOVE the little frogs and I love them even more because they are providing Precious Charlotte with great entertainment :-)

I bet my mom could benefit from an anti-inflammatory diet. I've been trying to convince her that some foods may really contribute to some of her health issues, but it's slow going. Your poor kitty. What torture to see the frog and not be able to get to it. Happy Weekend!!

I have really been feeling the benefits so far and it has only been a week. I am certainly sleeping better!
