Friday Favorites- Birthday Cake and Gypsy

Share the love :)

Gobble Gobble! How was your Thanksgiving? Chad and I ran a Turkey Trot 5K yesterday in downtown Orlando and it was my last race of the year. I ran 13 organized races in 2014 (one half marathon, one 15K and eleven 5K’s)- my goal was one race a month. I ran three races this month only because this time next week I will be at the hospital for foot surgery- thus leaving me off my feet for 6 weeks according to my Doctor. <gulp> NOT excited about the surgery but looking forward to returning to running pain free. And looking forward to be forced to lay on the couch and watch all the Holiday movies on The Hallmark Channel.

Turkey Beets

Anyway- as next week quickly approaches, I am taking a little time to reflect on the past week and the things that made me happy. If you get a chance- head on over to Housewife Glamour to join the Friday Favorites party and see what other bloggers are loving this week.

First- being that it is Thanksgiving week- we had some out of town visitors and I got to hang out with this face-

Gypsy

My canine sister Gypsy came down from New York City (with my parents in tow) to spend Thanksgiving with me. We napped, we ate, we walked, we napped, we ate, we walked. She’s just the best.

I did some recipe experimenting this past week and came up with two really amazing Holiday dishes.

Fried Brussel Sprouts Salad Beauty and the Beets

First this Fried Brussels Sprout Salad with Pickled Onions and Cranberries. I think this is one of my most favorite things I’ve made in a long time.

Sweet Potato Black Bean Quesa Tomato Confit Beauty and the Beets

I also made this Sweet Potato Black Bean Quesadilla with Spinach and Tomato-Onion Confit. Both recipes are part of my weekly Meatless Monday– I love playing in the kitchen.

Birthday Cake M&M's

I couldn’t spend the whole week being totally healthy so I splurged a little. Chad bought this bag of Birthday Cake M&M’s at my urging, then I stole the bag and didn’t share. He probably forgot we had even bought them. (I am sure he will be reminded however upon reading this though).

Worker Bee

Speaking of Chad- we’ve been doing a little redecorating around the house before his parents arrive for the Christmas Holidays. Chad has been a trooper- I had a bunch of new pictures to hang, curtains that needed to be fixed and lights that had to be moved. My favorite handy guy!

Orlando Eye

And lastly, it has been fun watching the progress of the Orlando Eye. This is Orlando ferris wheel that will be similar to the famous London Eye in England. Upon completion, the Orlando Eye will be one of the largest ferris wheels in the world. Recently they have just begun to add the outer ring. I haven’t decided if I will be able to brave anything that high but it is fascinating to look at. Eeek!!

Well, I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. Now we’ve officially entered Christmas season, time to put up that tree, right? Or is yours already up?

Thanks for stopping by and see you guys next week for Meatless Monday!

Gypsy is the best sister- when she isn't trying to steal Mr. Chad away from me that is. :)
