Ice Cream Sandwiches and Brussels Sprouts – Featured Friday Link Up #2

Share the love :)

Featured Friday Link Up Beauty and the Beets dot comHappy Friday!! So last week I started a new link up called Featured Friday. Here is how it works- this will be a place for bloggers to share their work with brands- sponsored posts, giveaways and general screaming from the rooftops about brands you love!! It does not have to be sponsored, it could merely be a mention of a snack or a shoe you are loving this week. But PLEASE- no corporate bloggers, please be an individual freelance blogger with your own domain and not a writer for someone else’s. That’s all I ask. Super easy- just tell me what you are loving this week- whether it is a brand, a product, a giveaway- whatever!! Your link can be from your post on Friday or any post from this week featuring or talking about a brand that you love. Did you love the yogurt you had at breakfast? Post it! There will be lots of PR eyes on this link up starting this week so you never know who will click on your post.

So on to my own Featured Friday post- there is so much this week!!

1. #SandwichEatUp

Anna-Marie Walsh - Beauty and the Beets

I attended my very first #SandwichEatUp this week. #SandwichEatUp is a monthly EAT Up in the Orlando area, hosted by Anthony “Biggie” of Deli Fresh Threads. The EAT Up rotates around the city to different sandwich shops and local restaurants and last weekend it was held at Peterbrooke Chocolatier of Winter Park. They offered sandwich flights…with ice cream.

Each flight had four different ice cream sandwiches – the Churro Gelato Sandwich, the Funnel Cake Gelato Sandwich, a sandwich made with freshly baked cookies and one with a cake donut. We were able to add what ever flavor gelato we wanted on each sandwich, so each of our flights were very different. And they were messy.

And they were delicious.

And by the way, if you are not familiar with Deli Fresh Threads, you will hear more about the brand soon. One reason being that I am speaking on a panel with Mr. Deli Fresh himself- Anthony “Biggie” Bencomo at FLBlogCon. The two of us, along with Jen Vargas of Central Florida Top 5 will be discussing the balance of blogging and life. FLBlogCon is the largest single day gathering of bloggers from Florida and beyond. We gather for a conference to learn all things blogging related. This year the conference will be on September 24 at Full Sail University in Winter Park, FL. If you are going to be in the Orlando area, tickets are still available but going fast!! Get your tickets here (this is not an affiliate link) – FLBlog Con 2016.

2. O’Dang Hummus Sauce

Brussels Sprouts Beauty and the Beets

It’s no secret that eat Brussels Sprouts by the truckload. I just seriously cannot get enough. I love love LOVE them. Raw, roasted, marinated – you name it. And now I found a new sauce to put on my Brussels Sprouts and all the other vegetables I eat. O’Dang Hummus Sauce is made right here in Central Florida, Winter Garden to be exact. I first learned of them at the Winter Garden Farmer’s Market when they were selling their variety of homemade hummus. Since then, they appeared on Shark Tank , got backing from the investors on the show and are now selling Hummus Sauce in both Publix Supermarkets and Whole Foods. The hummus sauce contains no oil, no dairy and no preservatives. And I can’t keep it stocked in my fridge because I am pouring it on everything.

3. Dunkin’ Donuts Cold Brew

Cold Brew Dunkin Donuts Beauty and the Beets

So I recently given a gift card to try the new cold brew at Dunkin’ Donuts. I am so in love with cold brew coffee that I am now making it home myself. I find myself ordering it anywhere I find it offered, but I have to say that I am not a big fan of the Dunkin’ Donut version. There is truly nothing unique about it other than the higher price. And I have given it a few chances, but everytime it tastes just like a regular iced coffee. Cold brew is supposed to be a little less bitter than regular hot brew coffee due to the brewing process, but I find myself still needing to add milk and sugar to it. However, most other cold brew that I find at other coffee shops, I love it black. So, meh, I will not be buying my cold brew from DD again.

OMG those sandwiches, they all sound so amazing I didn't even know things like that existed. And I'm the SAME with brussels! I love them roasted but have recently started experimenting with sauces.
