Pizza is one of those foods that we like to try in different towns when we travel. On a recent trip to Chattanooga, we decided to go to a pizza joint that was a local chain – Lupi’s Pizza Pies. With five locations in the Chattanooga area, we thought that maybe they knew how to whip up a good pie.
And they do. We ordered the simple Margherita Pie – mozzarella and fresh basil.
The crust was pretty good, as that is a pretty easy standard in which to judge a pizza. Crispy on the crust and soft in the middle, I thought the pizza was good, but not great.
I am not a fan of soggy and greasy pizza pie. The cheese didn’t melt well in the middle but the sauce was sweet and tangy.
We also ordered the bruschetta with fresh Italian salsa, but what we got was cheese bread with tomato sauce. Not impressed.
I think the favorite part of our meal was the garden salad with a sun-dried tomato honey French dressing.
The food was not terrible but it was rather ordinary and plain. And we did not understand why our bread was called bruschetta when it was clearly the same kind of cheese bread you would order at any other pizza joint. 3 out of 5 sprouts.
