Mizuno Wave Sky running shoe review

Share the love :)

I admit, I do not know much about running shoes. I know what feels good to me when I run. I was fitted for a running shoe many years ago at my local running store and the only thing I remember them saying was to go up a size to allow for foot swelling. Now, as I am running more, I have picked up things here and there about athletic shoes but I would not qualify myself as an expert, or even a semi-expert.

What I do know is that I prefer a neutral shoe. This means that my feet are not over pronated. Over pronation occurs when one or both of your feet rolls inward, also known as “flat foot”.  You can tell if you over pronate by standing on your feet and checking to see if you see a defined arch. If you do, you need a neutral shoe. If you cannot see your arch, you are most likely over pronating and would need a supportive running shoe. This is all I know about running shoes.

I buy new running shoes 2-3 times a year, depending on what races I am running, where and when. When I first began to run, I think I ran in the same shoe for almost three years before I purchased another pair. Now that I have gained a little more experience I do like to switch my shoes up a little depending on the distance I am running.

I was recently asked to review the new Mizuno Wave Sky running shoe, a plush cushion shoe that has replaced the Mizuno Enigma model. The Wave Sky is very comfortable on and I couldn’t wait to take them for a spin.

I headed down to my local running trail where I am trying to run two miles at least 4 times a week. As with any new running shoe, there is a grace period where you need to allow your foot to adjust to a different feeling, but it didn’t take long. I really love the extra layers of foam and cushion and felt like I was running on a cloud at times (hence the name Wave Sky). Again, my normal shoe size is an 8 1/2 or a 9 and I wear all my running shoes in a size 10. The shoes fit perfectly in a larger size for all my runs.

I love the sleek color too as so many running shoes tend to bright neon and flashy. I like that these are little more toned down. The Mizuno Wave Sky can easily go from my morning run to a day of walking around the mall, or in my town, the theme parks. And they are not heavy, not on my feet or when I am carrying them so they are not going to weigh your gym bag down.

The Mizuno Wave Sky retails for $150 at retailers nationwide and you can find more information here – Mizuno Wave Sky shoe.

I'm no expert either, but I absolutely fell in love with these! Aren't the colors awesome! Although, I wouldn't mind an obnoxious patriotic theme!
