Share the love :)

NYC Marathon medal 2014 Beauty and the Beets

HELLLOOOOO!!! I took some time off from the blog to head to New York City- and now I am back just in time for Friday Favorites. I will write more about the trip later and tell you how I ended up making an appearance on the Aladdin Broadway stage and how I went to a culinary college- but for now, I will keep my Friday Favorites brief. Welcome to the New York City Marathon edition!

First, last Friday night- which was also Halloween, the city of New York was treated to an incredible light show at the top of the Empire State Building. The lights danced in sync to Halloween music being played on the radio for this special occasion. We sat outside on our balcony wrapped in blankets for 10 minutes and watched the spectacular show. Above is a video I found of it on You Tube.

The Empire State Building light show was followed by the NYC Marathon opening ceremonies which included fireworks over Central Park which we could just see through the buildings.

Saturday morning I ran in the NYRR Dash to the Finish Line 5K. My Mom ran with me and despite the cold and rainy weather it was worth the experience.

NYCM Finish Line Big Screen Beauty and the Beets

Over 8000 people ran a 3 mile race through the streets of NYC and across the actual NYC Marathon finish line. We even ended up on the big screen at the finish line- that’s us in the middle in the yellow coat and the pink coat.

Sunday morning was the actual NYC Marathon. Chad was running it this year while my Mom and I ran around the city trying to catch a glimpse of him. We never did see him until his race was over but we enjoyed being among the cheering crowds. Security was extra tight this year making it very difficult as a spectator to position ourselves in certain spots to see the runners.

NYCM Zombies Beauty and the Beets

In the end, the runners just looked like a bunch of zombies in their blue ponchos slowly walking all over the city.

This video sums up the aftermath of the NYC Marathon-

That’s all for now- next week I will be recapping the trip more and explaining how I ended up on the Broadway stage. For now, I hope everyone has a great weekend!!
