Happy Friday. I am up to usual Friday shenanigans – recapping my favorite moments, food and posts from the past week. As always, I am joining the Friday Favorites party with Heather from Life in Leggings, Andrea from Momfessionals and Angela from Happy Fit Mama.
First up, last Saturday I participated in the Paws for Peace Walk to benefit Harbor House of Central Florida. Harbor House is dedicated to ending domestic abuse. However, 48% of those who are victims of domestic violence delay leaving their situation for fear their pets will be harmed or killed. The Paws for Peace walk raised money to assist with a safe haven for not only human victims but for their pets as well. Thank you to everyone who supported my team and I was able to reach my goal!!
There were hundreds of dogs that brought their human owners to walk. I did not have a dog so I brought my stuffed furry baby- Hooter, my first puppy. And we had fun visiting all the vendors and meeting new faces.
After the walk, Mr. Beet and I tried a new restaurant in Orlando called Black Rooster Taqueria. The first thing I ordered was the Mexican Iced Coffee with cinnamon, orange and Mexican cane sugar. Deliciousness. I have really been into all this spiced coffee lately.
We also had the pumpkin seed dip….what? Pumpkin seed dip? Super delicious. I am totally planning to recreate this at home.
And I had a very colorful Kale Salad. Coffee and kale salad? Why not?
I also met up with Meghan from Meghan on the Move and last weekend we ran the Lake Minneola 5K and I am happy to say that I set another PR. This running thing is getting to be easy. OK, that’s a lie. I pushed it and felt like I was going to throw up after the race, but I did it. And both Meghan and I finished fourth in our respective age groups. We have vowed to spend the summer building up our strength and endurance so we can be TOP 3 next year!
And for that…I deserve doughnuts. I met up with the Central Florida Lady Bloggers at a local Krispy Kreme and we got to experience their new Cookie Jar Doughnuts. While most everyone loved the Oreo Cookie Creme Filled doughnut the best, I personally preferred the Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Doughnut the most.
And the Snickerdoodle Doughnut was pretty near perfection too.
And we also sampled the Oreo Chiller. And this is why I have to run.
Favorite meal of the week was this Zoodle dish with Roasted Tomatoes. Recipe coming soon!!
And Lavender Lemonade. So into the lavender thing right now too.
….and don’t forget, here is a discount for you if are planning on attending the Food Wine Conference next month in Orlando:
So what are your plans for the weekend? Anything exciting? Tell me on the comments and I will see y’all next week!!

I need to start staying away from doughnuts. They are ruining my concentration as well. Happy Friday!
