Heigh ho! It’s Friday!!! HAPPY DANCE! We are headed to Savannah for a familiarization trip for the Publix Savannah Women’s Half Marathon. I am an ambassador for the 2016 race on April 2 (my birthday!!!) so Visit Savannah is sending me up there ahead of the race to scope things out. The only thing I know I am doing for sure is a food tour with Savannah Taste Experience and I am sure there will be some sort of ghost tour I will do – I am open for suggestions so tell me in the comments what else I should do.
The Publix Savannah Women’s Half Marathon also revealed their medals last week- I love them. If you are interested or planning to do the race use my code BEETS10 for a $10 discount on the race entry.

And on to Friday Favorites!! I am joining up with Heather from Life in Leggings, Andrea from Momfessionals, Narci from Grace and Love Blog, Erika from A Little Bit of Everything, Angela from Happy Fit Mama and Katie from Running 4 Cupcakes. Now that is one BIG linking party!
OK- so my favorite five things and happenings from this week:
1. Making the #RocknBlog 2016 team:
I found out this week that I was once again selected for the 2016 #RocknBlog team for the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series. This year they have offered everyone on the team a full Global Tour Pass which means we can do any race on their calendar. So far I plan on running the New Orleans, Raleigh, Nashville, Brooklyn, Savannah and Las Vegas races. I am so honored this lil’ beet was accepted to the team again as last year was so much fun. So for all you runners out there, I should have a discount code soon for all the Rock’n’Roll races in the series!
2. Fresh Cranberries:
I found this awesome recipe for fruit shrub beverages and was super intrigued. Shrub, I learned, is a sweetened vinegar-based syrup mixed with carbonated water. (It is also a fruit liqueur but for my purposes I made the vinegared syrup version). I’ve had a bag of cranberries leftover from another recipe so I made a cranberry shrub beverage- recipe coming to the blog next week!! In the meantime, I loved using fresh cranberries for something other than cranberry sauce, you know what I mean?
3. Flamingo Cookies:
This past weekend I went to a housewarming party at a friends new house and she made these flamingo cookies. Are they not the cutest cookies ever? Seriously, I just had to share this picture.
4. Colorful breakfast(s) and Winter Park Honey:
The short story- I went to an SEO (Search Engine Optimization) website meeting a few weeks ago, met a lady who is the beekeeper of Winter Park Honey here in Florida, we exchanged business cards and the next thing you know a box of honey showed up on my doorstep. So all week I have been making breakfasts using the honey.
It’s been mostly combinations of fruit and honey but I am slowly branching out using other ingredients. So far I am a big fan on the honey.
Earlier this week a group of Orlando bloggers got together to sample the food at a new restaurant called TR Fire Grill and I have to say I think we were all impressed. I loved their Cauliflower Steak with a Chile and Raisin Sauce. And for dessert my favorite was the Seared Lemon Pound Cake with ice cream and blueberry sauce. I love the blogging community here in Orlando- gatherings are always like hanging out with friends who get you. At a bloggers dinner nobody eats until everyone takes their pictures. The food is never hot by the time we dig in.
We did snap pictures of the ice cream really quickly as it was melting right before our eyes.

My favorite inspirational quote this week:
So true, right? And sometimes so hard to remember in the moment.
My favorite Beets post of the week:
And here are some of my favorite reads around the web this week:
A great read about the woman that you are. What would Miss-Fit do?
How to Coffee Shop Like A Boss – a cool article for coffee shop bloggers.
I love Stephanie’s writing- I was in hysterics with how she puts her words together- Crunchier than Grape Nuts
And that is it from Beetsland – I hope you have a great weekend and I will see y’all on Monday!! Thank you for stopping by.
