Friday Favorites and a Giveaway

Happy Friday! Does anyone else feel like this has been a long week? I never thought the weekend would ever get here.

I really enjoy these Friday Favorite posts because I get to reflect on some of the things that make me happy. And this week, in tribute to World Cup Soccer, the fine folks over at Taste Of Nature have provided me with some of their Brazilian Nut organic food bars as well as some other flavors to giveaway. Details at the end of the post. For now, let’s hop right into my Friday Favorites!

1. Who wants dessert?

Who doesn’t love dessert? While neither Chad or I eat sweets very often, every now and then we have to splurge. One night this past week, after he had worked a very long day he stopped to pick up dinner on his way home and surprised me with these chocolate covered strawberries and mini cannoli pastries. How fun! (and yes, he brought home a great veggie dinner too).

2. Speaking of dessert….Vegan Chocolate Chip cookies

Again, while we don’t eat a lot of sweets I did make another batch of these Vegan Chocolate Chip Cookies for Chad. I just had to include them because of this picture I took. See the two little eyeballs peering over the table? Somebody else was wanting some cookies too.

3. Speaking of little eyeballs……

This is my Lenore Raven Poe. She was a stray I found while working at the Edgar Allan Poe Haunted House a few years ago at Universal Studio’s Halloween Horror Nights. She was only three weeks old walking around all by herself and I took her home. She wasn’t afraid of my scary zombie corpse makeup. Luckily, Chad fell in love with her instantly and I got to keep her. She has become a little spitfire. Every morning (whether I am working or not) she wakes me up at 4am. Once my eyes are open she dashes to the other side of the house and waits for me in the room that I get ready in. As I am doing my makeup she sits on the bathroom sink and has a full conversation with me, probably talking about all the things that go creep in the night, like zombie corpses. Nevertheless, it makes me smile every morning. Who needs an alarm clock when you have a Lenore?

4. A clean and organized closet.

We’ve been doing a lot of spring cleaning around here. Here is the before and the after of my “spare” closet where we keep all of our out of season clothes and my golf and running apparel. Since it is an extra closet, it is also where all the things that have no other place to go end up. I finally took the time to clean it out and organize it. It’s amazing what an organized closet can do for your psyche.
