7/10- Friday Favorites- The Skimm and Tour de France

Share the love :)

It’s July!  We are right in the middle of the summer- where has the time gone?  Fall is just around the corner, no?

This could be one of the favorite times of year for both Chad and I.  About four years ago we sat down and watched a little race called the Tour de France and every year since we record it on TV and avoid seeing any of the results until we can sit down and watch.  This year has been particularly exciting with all the favorites having injuries and withdrawing from the race.  Oy.

Anyway, here we are at Friday Favorites again!  You’d think that maybe I would theme this week around Tour de France but I’m not.  But I should.

Anyway…..

Here’s what I am crushing on this week:

1.  The Skimm

TheSkimm

Have you heard of this yet?  It’s a short and funny newsletter sent to your inbox every morning that summarizes all you need to know in the world to keep up with conversations around the water cooler.  They make it witty, quick and informative.  The newsletter titles alone are hysterical.  I signed up and thought I would give it a chance and now I am hooked.  A quick 3-minute read every morning and I am plugged into the world.  You too can sign up here –>  The Skimm Newsletter sign up.

2.  Bloggy Con and Cedar Point

CedarPoint

I am super excited for Bloggy Con 2014 at Cedar Point in Ohio this year.  I love blogger conferences and meeting other bloggers in person. I am especially looking forward to this one.  The 3-day conference is being held at a Victorian-ish hotel right at the Cedar Point Amusement Park.  The tickets were only $85 and that includes admission into the park (and one of my favorite artists Chris Tomlin is at the park in concert that same weekend!!)   I have no plans to ride any of the roller coasters but I do plan on hitting up Pinky’s Hot Dogs.  It’s the same people as the famous Pinky’s out in LA and yes, they have veggie dogs.  You too can sign up for BloggyCon here –> Bloggy Con 2014.  Yes, this is an affiliate link.

3.  Trader Joes Inner Peas

Inner Peas

Last week Chad and I had an opportunity to check out the new Trader Joes that just opened in Winter Park, just outside of Orlando.  It’s not a place I would be doing all my grocery shopping- it’s more of a store I would pick up snacky items.

Inner Peas (1)

One thing we picked up were these “Inner Peas” by the Trader Joes brand.  They are pretty healthy, not stuffed with a bunch of ingredients I can’t pronounce.  Only 130 calories for a handful.  Addicting.

4.   The Tour de France

Boston dot com

I already I covered this one.  Chad and I will watch every stage until the very end.  We will see every crash, every sprint and every painful climb through the treacherous mountains.  The rest of the world has the World Cup, we have the Tour de France.

5.  Thought of the Day

While I have been participating in the BlogHer NaBloPoMo challenge I have been adding a thought of the day to all my posts in July.  I’ve been inspired as I read through quotes to find the perfect one that speaks to me at that exact moment.

Quote of the Day:

We cannot discover new oceans until we have the courage to lose sight of the shore.
