A Mac and a Bumbershoot – Friday Favorites

Share the love :)

Hello!  It’s Friday!  Can I get a woot woot?  A Mac and a Bumbershoot.

So I learned a lot about mac this week.  Like mac is a real word- not just a shortened word for “macaroni” although this week I ate way too much mac.  A “mac” is also a raincoat in Great Britain.  And they also call an umbrella a “bumbershoot.”  Now that you have learned something today, let us carry on…..

This week’s Friday Favorites is all about unhealthy food.

1. The O-Town MacDown

O-town Mac Down

Last weekend was the first annual O-Town MacDown presented by Sea World to benefit Give Kids the World.  There were over 40 local restaurants and home chefs competing to win the title of the best Mac and Cheese in Orlando.  I think Chad and I tried all 40 of the different versions of mac and cheese.  Tickets were only $10 per person and we most definitely got our money’s worth.  We won’t eat mac and cheese again…until next year.

2.  Visit Orlando’s Magical Dining Month

Yelp Elite Dining

We attended a Yelp event this past week to kickoff Visit Orlando’s Magical Dining Month.  We got to sample a few of the restaurants participating in the program, where diners pay $33 for a three course meal at some of the area’s top restaurants. I ended up winning a weekend at one of the ritzy hotels here in Orlando and dinner at their fancy schmancy restaurant.  Yay!  Looks like we will have a little staycation later in the month. The hotel was booked and the dinner reservations were made the very next day after the event.

3.  Orangina

Orangina

Probably one of my most favorite drinks ever.  But it is so awful for you.  Well, we all have our vices.  I love finding Orangina at this little French bistro Chad and I visited one afternoon for lunch.

4.  Tomato, Brie and Butter Sandwich

Cafe de Paris Tomato, Brie and Butter

At the same little French bistro I ordered this Tomato, Brie and Butter sandwich.  It’s my new favorite unhealthy indulgence, along with that Orangina.

5.  Einstein Bagels Coffee Cake

Einstein Bagels Coffee Cake

I mean, I am already on an unhealthy roll here, why stop now?  This is my new favorite thing for breakfast- this chocolate chip coffee cake from Einstein Bagels.

Don’t worry Mom, we ate very healthy the rest of the week.  We ate plenty of broccoli and brussel sprouts like we always do.  I promise.

And also- don’t forget to enter the Two Smitten Boutique giveaway- there is only one day left to enter.  Go here to enter to win a $250 gift card from the Two Smitten Boutique!

What are you loving this week?
