It’s Friday. Technically it’s the last Friday before Christmas since next Friday is Christmas Day. I am thinking now may be a real good time to start my Holiday shopping. No, just kidding. I can start tomorrow.
Well, it’s been a week since we have been home since all of our non-stop travel and what have we done? Well….let’s jump into Five Things Friday, here and here, shall we? This week it’s all about the sweetest things. Include this first one:
1. We adopted an Olive.
We found a great organization here in Orlando called All About the Cats and fell in love with one of the little black kittens. Her name is Olive– (she was already named when we got her) and we got to take her home last weekend. Chad and I have had four days of cats (and kittens) hiding under the beds, hissing and swatting but now everyone seems to be adjusting and the purring has begun.
The older two seem to have really taken to her and she to them. And she to us. And naturally, us to she. She doesn’t sit still very long so getting a picture with her has been challenging.
2. This hot honey vanilla shake.
From Bareburger in NYC. I am still dreaming about it and have finally decided to order my own bottle of Mike’s Hot Honey
from Amazon (<—affiliate link). The shake had a slight kick to it from the chilies-infused honey. I plan on adding this honey to chocolate ice cream and even pizza. We had also had this honey on a pizza in St. Louis and it was seriously one of the best pizzas I have ever had.
3. Peppermint Brownies.
It’s the time of year when everything is flavored with peppermint, gingerbread or egg nog. These brownies I love with crushed peppermint candies on top.
4. Peanut Butter Chocolate Cookies.
OK- so I have been whipping up some really bad treats in the house this week. Like these Peanut Butter Chocolate Cookies. Recipe coming Monday. But I will not apologize for having sweet taste buds.
5. Dang Toasted Coconut Flakes
My absolute new favorite snack food. I found them at Whole Foods and I cannot wait to try the other flavors. My new favorite take along for all my airplane trips.
6. Bonus: My inspirational quote of the week:
So our plans this weekend include dinner with the parents and the Mt. Dora Half Marathon. What are you guys up to this weekend?

Olive is precious! And what a great name. I am pretty sure if I adopted a cat (I want to soon!, just have to convince my fiance) I would give it a food name of sorts. Like Cheddar. Or Bacon. Okay, maybe not bacon...

Bacon would be a cute name. The funny thing with Olive is that we didn't name her- her foster Mommy did. That's how we knew she was meant to be ours. And her favorite toy is a stuffed strawberry!
