Welcome to Friday Favorites! Can you believe that we are past the middle of OCTOBER???? Where is all this time going and why do I feel like I can’t get anything done? Anyone with me?
Well, one thing I have made a very conscious effort with is to put aside more time to read. Like most Americans, I watch too much TV and don’t read enough books. My FF list is all about the new books I’ve just acquired, the ones I am reading now and the ones I loved so much the first time around I am planning on reading them again.

This is the book I am currently reading and I am loving it. Author Gretchen Rubin embarks on a one year journey to deepen her level of happiness- she already has me cleaning out my closets (again) and being more aware of the present moment. Ironically, a WordPress client of mine dedicated her blog last month to this very book- a book I just happened to be reading. In just one year, the author completely overhauls her life.
In this book, author Ricky Ly (also the writer of Tasty Chomps) explores the local food culture of Orlando from its fancy restaurants to the exploding food truck scene. Also included are some recipes from Orlando’s top Chefs to a detailed listing of Farmers’ Markets and pick-your-own-produce locales. This book has become my go-to guide when we are looking for someplace unique to dine around town. Every Orlandoan and visitor should have a copy of this.
This is my latest addition to my growing collection of Vegan cookbooks. The Happy Cow Cookbook is a collection of recipes from the top Vegan restaurants in the United States and overseas. HappyCow.net is a website that I use whenever I am travelling and I am unfamiliar with local Vegan and Vegetarian fare. It’s only natural they should develop a cookbook so I can recreate my findings!
Unglued and Becoming More Than a Good Bible Study Girl are two of my favorites by Lysa Terkeurst. She is the President of Proverbs 31 Ministries and writes the blog that accompanies the website. Her writing is funny, entertaining and insightful from a Biblical point of view. I especially loved Unglued– we’ve all been there, we’ve all been to the point of being unglued and she puts a funny spin on it and how to deal.
These two ladies tell it to you straight- facts and information about being Vegan and Vegetarian. Let me just say I have never had a glass of cow’s milk since reading the first book Skinny Bitch a few years ago. From there I bought the journal and the cookbook Skinny Bitch in the Kitchen. I told you I love cookbooks and these girls are so funny- how can I not want to whip up “Meatloaf” with Mashed Potatoes and Gravy?
I get asked a lot of questions about my days as a Flight Attendant with a major airline. This book about sums up my experiences. It’s a quick read but highly entertaining read about the wonderful “glamorous” world of Flight Attendants.
So now I m making a special effort to put at least an hour a day side to turn off the TV, find a comfortable spot and read a book. What books are you reading now?
Thank you to Heather from Housewife Glamour for hosting the Friday Favorites link up!
