In a town full of seafood restaurants, where do you go if just want pizza? Orange Beach is a mecca for fresh seafood right out of the Gulf of Mexico, but one can only eat so much seafood, right? Well, I guess I could eat clams and oysters all day, but that isn’t Mr. Beet’s thing. He isn’t a shellfish kind of guy, but I digress. Let’s get back to pizza.
Rotolo’s Pizzeria is in the heart of Orange Beach, Alabama in front of the Publix at Palm Pointe. It’s a full service restaurant though you can order your pizza to go. We started with the cheese sticks, but these aren’t the breaded cheese sticks one normally would think of. Here the cheese sticks are thin pizza crust sticks with cheese served with a side of marinara. It was ok, but really, if I wanted a thin crust pizza I would have just ordered one. I ordered Ranch dressing on the side which was better than the marinara.
The garden salad was good. I always love when a garden salad is more than a bowl of lettuce and tomatoes. This salad had mushrooms, mozzarella, and garlic croutons.
We ordered an onion and cheese pizza, our standard. The crust was a soft crust, not our favorite, but the pizza was good.
In general, Rotolo’s is a good spot to get your pizza fix. There is a menu of pizza, wings, sandwiches, and pasta. 4 out of 5 sprouts.
