Strawberry Huller

Share the love :)

Strawberries are a keystone in our healthy diet – we ALWAYS have frozen strawberries in our freezer as we make fruit smoothies 3-4 times a week.  However- we take advantage of the year-round availability of FRESH strawberries in the produce aisle of our friendly local grocery store.  And this gives me a chance to use my strawberry whatchamacallit, er …huller.

I have a collection of kitchen gadgets – from a potato-shaped potato scrubber and a mushroom-shaped mushroom scrubber to a strawberry huller.  Yes, I have a strawberry huller.  I got it this past summer in New York with my Mom- we both have one.  We found ours at Williams Sonoma for about $8, but you can also find it here on Amazon –> Strawberry Huller.

Realistically, you can hull strawberries with a melon baller or a paring knife but now that wouldn’t be fun. Basically- the Chef n’ Stem strawberry huller has claws- you open the claws, dig into the top of the strawberry, twist and pull…..

It’s time consuming and takes out the entire center of the strawberry if you aren’t careful.  But it’s a kitchen gadget and for me that makes it fun!!  Let’s face it- Chad has banned me from the gadget wall at Bed Bath and Beyond.  Chad calls it Bed, Bath and Beyond Our Budget I call it HEAVEN.

And for breakfast with my gadget – we ate fresh fruit – and if it takes a silly unnecessary kitchen gadget to eat healthier than what’s the problem?  Right?

I gave up on my strawberry huller :-(. I am glad you like yours. You are very cute with all your gadgets.
