Friday Favorites Beauty and the Beets The Brice

Ladies and Gentleman, it’s the day we have been waiting for all week- it’s Friday which means it is time for a Friday Favorites party! I like Fridays because it’s my day on the blog to just talk about random things, link up with other bloggers and read what everyone else is up to. I’ve included all the party links below, but first……here is what made my list of favorites this week:

The Brice Savannah Beauty and the Beets

Sully in Savannah Beauty and the Beets

Chad and I had an awesome weekend last week in Savannah. I was sent through on a familiarization trip before the Publix Savannah Women’s Half Marathon in April and we were put up in a trendy boutique hotel on Bay Street, very near the river. Not only was it a great location, it was gorgeous. I had asked for a pet friendly hotel as we brought along my Sully. He needs medication twice a day for his thyroid and while we have an awesome lady who watches the kids when we travel, I like to bring him along whenever we can. He seems to like the car rides and I think he really likes the one-on-one time he gets with us. He seemed to have loved the hotel as we pushed a chair up against the window for him and there he sat most of the weekend.

I won’t go into great detail about the weekend (there will be a post soon) but I will say- the moment we arrived I knew we were in for an amazing weekend. We were greeted with a cheese plate and fireworks over the river (I mean, those were for us, right?) and we went for some late night ice cream at Leopold’s- all the first night.

Leopolds Ice Cream Rose Petal Beauty and the Beets

If you have ever been to Savannah, you know what Leopold’s is all about. Let’s just say my rose petal ice cream was incredible, and we ate our ice cream as we walked back to the hotel, despite the fact it was only 40° outside. Leopold’s is so worth it.

Mizuno Wave Catalyst Beauty and the Beets

While in Savannah I had a chance to take my new Mizuno Wave Catalyst running shoes for a spin. They are my new favorite running shoe (the company did provide me with a free pair of shoes in exchange for my honest review but my opinions are my own, and I really do love them.)

Walsh The Goonies Beauty and the Beets

We also found a neat little spot to have dinner one night where they had a large screen in the dining room and they were showing The Goonies movie. I forgot some of the characters were Walsh kids- but there it was- a Walsh sign hanging from the front porch. (my last name is Walsh- hence the excitement of remembering the Walsh thing in the movie.)

Olive is sticking out her tongue 1

We had a great weekend, but I was greeted upon our return by a lot of tongues sticking out by the girls that we left at the house. Whatever……

Market on South Beauty and the Beets

Mr. Beet and I celebrated Valentine’s Day a little early. I received a last minute pair of tickets to see Guy Fieri at the Dr. Phillips Center for the Perfomring Arts here in Orlando and we decided to turn it into a date night, our Valentine’s date. We went to my new favorite restaurant in Orlando called Market on South– an amazing and very creative all Vegan spot close to downtown.

Market on South Georgia Peach Sloppy Joe Beauty and the Beets

I tried the Georgia Peach Sloppy Joe with the Brussels Sprouts – just Heavenly. I really hope this place does well here – it is really my new favorite spot.

Sweet Potato Apple vichyssoise Publix Beauty and the Beets

We then went over to the Dr. Phillips Center. Guy Fieri was performing as part of the Publix Chef Series and Publix had several sampling stations around the lobby area. We both hovered around the table with the Sweet Potato Apple Vichyssoise. So good.

Guy Fieri Orlando Beauty and the Beets

And the show was very good. Guy Fieri is really funny and quick-witted, playing off the audience a lot. Look for a post about the show coming soon as well.

Lastly, Guy Fieri was demonstrating the art of pan tossing during the show which was ironic. I had spent the better part of the day earlier working on my Forks Over Knives cooking class and we are currently learning how to master the pan toss as a way to evenly cook vegetables. Well, I realized all my pans were too shallow to be successful in my lesson so I ordered a new pan from Amazon at 11:00 in the morning. The pan showed up at 7:00pm the same day at my front door. And it was only an extra $10 for the same day service.

So in my lesson it is recommend that we practice tossing with dried beans. I, however, will be practicing with dry cat food. That way, when everything ends up all over the floor, the kids will be there to clean it all up. Genius, I know.

Everything you wrote about is great but I have to say that my most favorite things are the pictures of Sully looking out the window and Olive sticking her tongue out at you :-)
