This sweet and tart raspberry dipping sauce is the perfect accompaniment to jalapeno poppers, fried pickles, or roasted Brussels sprouts.
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup raspberries
- 1/2 cup blackberries
- 1/4 cup white sugar
- 2 tablespoons white wine vinegar
- 2 tablespoons + 1/2 teaspoon water, divided
- 1/2 teaspoon cornstarch
Instructions
- To a medium pot add the raspberries, blackberries, sugar, vinegar, and 2 tablespoons water.
- Cook over medium heat for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally as the berries break down.
- In a small bowl, combine the cornstarch with 1 teaspoon of water.
- Add the cornstarch mixture to the raspberry mixture and stir well.
- Cook over medium heat an additional 5 minutes, until the sauce begins to thicken.
- Remove the sauce from the heat and let cool about 10 minutes.
- Add the sauce to a blender and blend.
- Strain the sauce through a fine mesh strainer, pushing sauce slightly with a spoon. Discard the solids leftover.
- Pour sauce into serving ramekin or small bowl.
