This sweet and tart raspberry dipping sauce is the perfect accompaniment to jalapeno poppers, fried pickles, or roasted Brussels sprouts.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup raspberries
  • 1/2 cup blackberries
  • 1/4 cup white sugar
  • 2 tablespoons white wine vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons + 1/2 teaspoon water, divided
  • 1/2 teaspoon cornstarch

Instructions

  1. To a medium pot add the raspberries, blackberries, sugar, vinegar, and 2 tablespoons water.
  2. Cook over medium heat for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally as the berries break down.
  3. In a small bowl, combine the cornstarch with 1 teaspoon of water.
  4. Add the cornstarch mixture to the raspberry mixture and stir well.
  5. Cook over medium heat an additional 5 minutes, until the sauce begins to thicken.
  6. Remove the sauce from the heat and let cool about 10 minutes.
  7. Add the sauce to a blender and blend.
  8. Strain the sauce through a fine mesh strainer, pushing sauce slightly with a spoon. Discard the solids leftover.
  9. Pour sauce into serving ramekin or small bowl.
